We are excited to announce San Francisco based artist, Anthony Russell has been selected for the Ark Project 2020 International Artist-In-Residence Program.
We are honored to work with Anthony this Fall. Our first field trip is scheduled for the Salton Sea in California where we will source new material and survey the landscape.

“Maguey Dreams” is a painting series that accompanies the artist's exploration of his Mexica heritage with specific attention given to indigenous artists' representation of natural resources. By combining a study of pre-conquest painted scriptures with inspiration drawn from science-fiction and cell animation, Russell's representation of hierophanies in Mexico aspires to strip the tableau of its narrative in order to create a mundane mythological setting that is reverent as well as ambiguous.
